Full time Shading, Lighting & Rendering TD

Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg, Institute of Animations' Research and Development group is looking for a Shading, Lighting and Rendering Technical Director. We offer full time employment including 29 paid vacation days per year in a unique working environment between research, practical industry projects and education. German language skills are not required if applicants have exceptional English language skills. Your profile should include at least 2 years industry experience in either Animation, VFX or Games production. Strong coding skills are required. The offer is based on a fixed term contract and will focus on:

• look development for various cg characters (human and non-human)
• lighting, shading and rendering for VFX productions including virtual humans
• research of transfer technologies from offline concepts into real-time environments
• extension of the Frapper framework real-time shading and rendering capabilities
• development of workflows for real-time NPR algorithms within film productions
• lecturing responsibilities within Filmakademie

Bachelor/Master Thesis Positions and paid Internships

Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg, Institute of Animations' Research and Development group is looking for enthusiastic students from International Universities. We offer paid Intern positions and the option to work on a Bachelor/Master Thesis in agreement with the partner University. The focus can be negotiated. here are some topics that would fit into our current developments:

• Tool development for S3D postproduction in the scope of the joint research project
• Character Design: complete character design for our Agent Framework
• Character Animation: character animation for Emote and the Agent Framework
• Real-Time Graphics: Frapper Engine Development for Agent Framework
• Real-Time Graphics: Shader Development Real-Time Displacement
• Application Development: Modules for Frapper 2.0
• Maya Api Tool Development - Mopcap/FACS Solver

The positions will be at least of 6 month duration. German language skills are not required. Full time attendance is required. Work location is the Filmakademie in Ludwigsburg, Germany. Applicants for technical positions should have C++, GPU, Maya Mel and Api coding skills. Artistic applicants are required to have a good understanding of Maya and common Graphics Tools.
